The luxury JW Marriott Charlotte hotel is the newest member of the Charlotte North Carolina skyline! The five-star urban oasis recently opened in the center of Downtown Charlotte nestled right next to the Convention Center. There are three restaurants, an outdoor heated pool, rooftop bar, gym, and easy access to the city hustle! Located within blocks of the Queen City’s attraction including the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Mint Museum of Craft Design, Bank of America Stadium, and Epicenter. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is only 5.6 miles away. The 381-room luxury hotel, including 34 custom suites, offers an urban retreat where you can stop, pause and enjoy the moment. You can break away for a weekend and never have to leave the property.

A huge highlight of the property is the heated rooftop pool with a view! It is accented with lofty cabanas and greenery while offering high-key poolside vibes and scenic views of the skyline. You can relax at the rooftop pool as a guest or book a cabana via Resort Pass (source for prices below). Day passes are available to visitors not staying at the hotel but who want to spend a day at the stunning pool. A standard day pass is currently $100 which includes a reserved lounge chair, free wifi, and food & beverage access. The Cabana package prices are the same for guests and visitors. Definitely keep that in mind for the summertime!

The JW Marriott Charlotte Gym

The 24-hour gym was well-equipped with weights, treadmills, Elliptical Machine. and one Peloton Bike. They have towels, water, and complimentary disposable wired headphones for the machines. It was odd to me that the gym is right off of the pool/rooftop restaurants entrance with glass walls. So a quick evening workout can be seen by folks pulling up for their 7 pm cocktail reservations can see you struggling through your HITT workout.

The Spa by JW

The Spa by JW is on-site to provide you with all the elements of relaxation. As a feature of the JW Marriott Charlotte Luxury hotel, The oasis tucked away in the city offers body scrubs, massages, lip treatment, pedicures, and more. Ask about the Royal Treatment! An Aura experience can be booked as a complete package which includes a private cabana rental and a massage at Spa by JW to enjoy during your pool day.

The JW Marriott Charlotte Guest Room

The JW Marriott Charlotte was clean and modern with an efficient digital elevator system. Guest rooms are spacious with a unique bathroom setup. The shower and toilet have blurred separations and separate doors which can come in handy if there are multiple people in a room. The dual head shower has amazing water pressure. All the guest rooms feature full floor-to-ceiling windows that made for a splendid sunrise. The full-length mirror was a Lil dusty so I couldn’t get my selfies off as I wanted. The room included plenty of charging ports including USB ports plus plush obes, complimentary tea, and coffee.

The JW Marriott Charlotte Food

Dean’s Steak House

What you got is more than a steak house. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and include a corner cafe. In the morning you can pick up cookies, muffins, espresso, and coffee on the dash, or you can sit and enjoy a full-service breakfast. Our first experience was brunch. The Brush Creek Ranch Brunch Burger was a hefty delight. It plays no games when it came to flavor packing Wagyu, Tomato jam, grilled onions, provolone, fried egg, thick-cut bacon, and shoestring fries. It was fresh cut and grilled to my satisfaction. I thought I had a slice of steak. The fried egg and thick-cut bacon really set it off the depth of the Wagyu.

The housemade ranch and fries complemented the whole meal. I’m picky about ranch quality! My husband cosigns the burger and says the wood-fired Classic Neapolitan pizza was scrumptious. The cocktails did not disappoint I sipped on a classic lemon drop and my husband really loved the Bacon old-fashioned that literally came with a slice of bacon and Bacon-Washed Rye, Maple-Infused Demerara, Angostura Bitters.

Breakfast before checkout was cute. I enjoyed the Smoked Ham & Fontina Omelet with crispy fingerling potatoes. I don’t play with breakfast potatoes. They must be cripsy and these hit the bar.

Caroline Oyster Bar

The darling establishment is picturesque with a 360-degree centerpiece bar and an 8-seat Carolina-style raw oyster bar. They are serving a wide variety of Oysters from various shores. They provided a fresh menu with 5 types of fresh oysters and a brief description of their taste profile. Outside is a vibe with a courtyard that leads to an ice cream shop. The outside arrangements have Firepits that make for a cozy fall night out. Inside there is an intentional design for groups and an enjoyable conversation with wide roomy booths and such a welcoming bar. The oysters were perfection served with cocktail sauce, saltines, and hot sauce. To our surprise, the Fish and Chips were not traditional Cod. Halibut made for a flakier, moist cut of “Fish Nuggets” ( cause they were thicccck).

Aura RoofTop

It was a chilly night but I was excited to try out the rooftop. The current cool season igloos are always attractive. We were sat at a table for two in the (now trendy) straw wicker chairs. Turns out the igloos are for larger parties ( 4+). Above all, They didn’t leave us out in the cold, Aura offered blankets for those sitting in the open. I can’t say that I felt any space heaters. There is a large firepit section for groups first come first serve. The vibe and views were gorgeous. The small plates were presented in a unique fashion. Surprisingly the sushi hand rolls came rolled in seaweed cones it was cute and convenient. My favorite was the salmon poke featuring Ponzu, Cucumber, Carrot, Sweet Onion, Furikake, Nori. Their menu features an incredible selection of botanical craft cocktails, boutique wines, and small bites. Aura Rooftop welcomes guests 21+.

All in All the JW Marriott Charlotte is a sweet spot for Charlotte offering a fresh five-star experience to stop and smell the roses. Customer Service from valet to the dining and beyond was satisfactory. I think you should absolutely bookmark this gem for your next visit to Charlotte.
