White Duck Taco has been open since the top of the Summer. I always had it on my running list of places to try once the hype died down butttt I don’t think the hype will die down anytime soon.
I won a gift card to Asheville born Taco dealer so the timing couldn’t be more perfect. I found the shop nestled off the side of town. It was a quiet Thursday upon opening so everything was chill. Hampton Station has a beautiful outside lawn with a grassy area and picnic tables for eating and drinking. Once inside, Richard assisted with helping me choose from the massive selection. We settled on one Steak + Cheese Taco and one Shrimp Taco. Most Tacos run about $3.65 with a few featured Tacos about $4.50ish. The Steak Taco was juicy and tender while the shrimp taco with eccentric with layers of flavor amongst the fried shrimp and pickled cucumbers. Two tacos were filling but I was missing some chips!
My family and I came back the very next evening to a whole ‘nother vibe. On Friday night the Station was buzzing with folks. Groups of families and friends enjoying food and drinks outside. The cheerful kids and rambunctious puppies played on the grassy lawn. It was a perfect blend for family night or date night. Warm and welcoming. We opened the door to White Duck to find a line snaked through the eatery all the way to the door. The ‘Ville loves Tacos. The line moved fast. Fast enough for my Two year old to notice we still haven’t “Eat-Eat”.
The Mister and I started it off right this time with Chips and Queso which is not pictured because I was starving. We ordered quite the variety: Korean Beef, Shrimp Tacos, Steak + Cheese, Fish Taco and Spicy Buffalo Chicken Taco plus a Quesidella for the young human. Everything was yummy and filling. The Koren Beef was exceptional as it has a sweet marinade to it. I think the Korean and Shrimp are my top faves! I still have a few to try so don’t etch that in stone yet!
Good food at fabulous prices will always have my heart!
